Manufactured Structures idea:
As shown above, I didn't extensively explain each point as I knew when I was going to put the screen shot on my blog, if I wrote too much it may get too hard to be read. I intend to combine both aspects of this mind map, using both ideas. As a way to form a cohesive final portfolio I will make sure the same style of editing is used through out, whether it is all black and white, or an orangey tone highlight. I believe the Lewis Baltz inspired aspect will be a really interesting aspect to experiment with and include within my work, however, I believe if I were to focus my whole series of images on this style, it may become tedious and my intentions of displaying my towns history may be lost. However, I do like the idea of using a minimalistic approach in this framework project. All my previous projects I have done portraiture, capturing people through both documentary candid style and also staged. Thus showing how I wish to extend my photography learning within my Alevel to stem away from portraiture and be able to form a story to my audience.
Another aspect which I feel would be interesting to touch upon on my work within this project will be to capture key parts of history which are still visible to the public yet do not look the same as they have been destroyed over time- for example the old war shelters...
The way I could aim at doing this would be through going to the events held at The Royal Gunpowder Mills.
For this idea, all the images I capture would be done within the studio, I think this would be an important aspect because this way I would be able to have complete control on lighting. As I would want to make the full focus on the objects, I wouldn't want to take it on location where the item/prop could be discarded. Furthermore, I would be able to use different techniques such as the colleges macro lens to be able to capture in sharp detail the object. The whole idea of this shoot would be minimalistic, including just the item and thats it with a plain background.
Overall, I have decided to use the question of manufactured structures in order to form a historical story to my audience through the use of referencing the work of both Markus Brunetti and Lewis Baltz through the use of minimalistic photography focusing purely on the structures.
